What to Expect in the Test In London

When you arrive, the staff on hand will check your ID, verify you are scheduled to take the test at that time, and then take a photo of you for security purposes. What to Take With You
The most important thing to take with you is an acceptable form of identification. No ID, no test. No exceptions. Valid IDs include a UK driving license or passport.
If you do not have one of those you will need to show 2 alternative forms of ID. These include an EU Country ID card, a Trade Union card, a British Armed Forces card, a credit or debit card, a National Insurance card or a recent bank statement. For a full list of alternative IDs click here.
What to do Before Going to the Test Centre
It is strongly suggested that you spend time revising before going for your test. Of candidates who fail the test nearly 3/4 failed to revise before taking the test.

Determining Which Test is For You

Obtaining a CSCS Card is not as simple as filling out a form and paying a fee. Virtually every card comes with one or more prerequisites that must be satisfied before a card will be issued, and each one requires that the person take and pass the CITB health, safety and environment test.
Problem is, there are currently more than a dozen CSCS Cards and 3 levels of CITB test. So the challenge is to make sure you take the right test for the Card you are trying to get. Below we’re going to take a quick look at the different levels of tests and which test applies to which CSCS Card.
The 3 levels of CITB test are:
  1. Operatives Test
  2. Operatives or Specialist Test
  3. Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test
The Operatives Test In London
This is the basic CITB test and is administered to those who wish to obtain a CSCS Green Card in order to work as a labourer in the UK construction industry. People seeking a Provisional Red Card in order to work on a construction site for a short period of time (for whatever professional or academic reason) will also need to take the Operatives Test.
We would urge you not to take this test for granted. Many assume the Operatives Test is a breeze, fail to study beforehand, and wind up failing. There are lots of high-quality revision materials available that will help you prepare for this test. We suggest you purchase some and use them.
The Operatives or Specialist Test
If you hope to obtain a Blue Card for Skilled Workers, a Red Card for an Experienced Worker, Apprentice or Trainee, or a Supervisory level Gold Card you will need to take the Operatives or Specialist Test. This test represents the next level of detail and difficulty, meaning revision is essential.
Every CSCS Card comes with one or more prerequisites attached that are separate from the test. Those prerequisites vary from card to card.
The Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test
Anyone wishing to obtain a Managerial CSCS Black Card, a Technical, Supervisory or Managerial Red Card, or a White Card for someone with particular Academic or Professional qualifications will need to take the Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test. Again, check the official CSCS website for prerequisites.
